Dining at Trinity

As of September 2026, Trinity College will have two on campus dining halls – the new Trinity Café in the Lawson Centre for Sustainability and Strachan Hall.  Both locations, strive to offer delicious, healthy, and sustainable food to nourish the minds and bodies of our students and community members.  

Trinity’s dining halls operate on a declining balance system – at every transaction, you will be charged for each individual item you select using your Residence Meal Plan, Trinity Flex Dollars, debit or credit. A declining cash balance meal plan gives students maximum flexibility by letting you spend dining dollars however and whenever you choose across Trinity campus—even taking meals to go.  

TRINITY CAFE – Opening September 2026 

The new Lawson Centre for Sustainability (25 Devonshire Place) dining hall – Trinity Café – serves as Trinity’s primary dining facilities. From late August through April, Trinity Café will be open all day, from breakfast through dinner, with a full meal service extending into the evening. More details to come in August 2026. 

STRACHAN HALL

Strachan Hall (6 Hoskin Avenue) serves as Trinity’s smaller, secondary dining facilities. From late August through April, the servery in Strachan Hall will be open for modified hours. More details to come in August 2026. 

THE BUTTERY

The Buttery is located on the main floor of the Gerald Larkin Building (15 Devonshire Place). The servery in the Buttery is closed, but the seating space will remain open during the year for community members to use.

DINING FOR RESIDENCE STUDENTS

All students living in the Trinity College residences are required to purchase a meal plan, which can be used at the Trinity Café and Strachan Hall. Given that all residence students are required to have a meal plan, all potential or current Trinity College students with food allergies or dietary accommodation requirements are encouraged to connect with the Office of the Dean of Student (trinity.deanofstudents@utoronto.ca) for accommodation assistance.

DINING FOR COMMUTER STUDENTS

Commuter students are welcome on campus and are encouraged to come and eat at Trinity’s dining locations. Commuter students can pay for food using debit, credit or Trinity Flex Dollars. Trinity Flex Dollars allow the holder to pre-load a set amount of money onto their TCard to be used at any of the Trinity dining outlets.
